Abstract
This article is part of the biannual Sustainable International Trade research project in Argentina. A journey towards zero impact (2023-2025) based at the Universidad Abierta Interamericana University, Faculty of Economic Sciences, Rosario Regional Campus. The global climate crisis is unavoidable, and companies are facing a new paradigm regarding the impact on the environment. In this context, International Trade, as an area of production and distribution of goods, is not left out of this challenge. Consequently, the problem being investigated analyzes the interactions between International Trade and the environment through a multiple-path approach, considering the impact of one on the other. It is investigated in terms of sustainable actions, classified as those related to the production of goods and their international distribution, from the perspective of sustainable production and consumption. The study is limited to the city of Rosario and the area of influence of the province of Santa Fe, considering the relevance of its export movement.
Through a qualitative and exploratory design and descriptive research, the objectives include conducting a survey and mapping of actors in the sector, to determine the actions and interactions they carry out to mitigate the carbon footprint in their activities; describe national, regional and international regulatory frameworks; and analyze environmental training strategies and lines of action to develop competitive Sustainable International Trade. Partial results that address the description and analysis of the current state of affairs are presented in terms of conceptual and regulatory frameworks; actors involved, and particularly the export business environment (year 1 goals).
