Resumen
Este artículo tiene como propósito analizar la gestión empresarial y la competitividad de los pequeños y medianos negocios
ubicados en el “Centro Comercial Nueva Colombia” de la ciudad de Cartagena, de tal manera que contribuya a mejorar la toma
de decisiones y garantizar su competitividad.
A partir de esta investigación se realizó un diagnóstico de la gestión empresarial con el fin de conocer los factores relevantes en
las operaciones mercantiles, en el que se identificaron falencias en cuanto a la aplicación de los fundamentos básicos de la
administración en relación a la planeación, organización, ejecución y control de las diferentes actividades de los negocios, de
tal forma que permita la implementación de políticas y estrategias, que maximice las fortalezas y minimice sus debilidades,
aprovechando las oportunidades de su ubicación estratégica en el centro de la ciudad y siendo proactivo frente a las
amenazas de estos negocios en el mercado, en aras de potenciar la gestión empresarial como un modelo para mejorar la
competitividad, acorde a las necesidades y requerimientos de los clientes en un entorno altamente competitivo.
Se utilizó el método de observación directa y análisis, que pretende conocer las variables más relevantes de la gestión
empresarial. El estudio que se desarrolló es de tipo descriptivo de corte transversal, permitiendo tener una visión general y
caracterizar las variables más relevantes de la problemática.

Abstract
The purpose of this article is to analyze business management and the competitiveness of small and medium-sized businesses
located in the “Nueva Colombia Shopping Center” in the city of Cartagena, in such a way that it contributes to improving
decision-making and guaranteeing its competitiveness.
From this research a diagnosis of business management was made in order to know the relevant factors in the commercial
operations, in which shortcomings were identified in terms of the application of the basic fundamentals of the administration in
relation to planning, organization, execution and control of the different activities of the business, in such a way that allows the
implementation of policies and strategies, which maximizes the strengths and minimizes their weaknesses, taking advantage
of the opportunities of their strategic location in the city center and being proactive in the face of the threats of these businesses
in the market, in order to promote business management as a model to improve competitiveness, according to the needs and
requirements of customers in a highly competitive environment.
The method of direct observation and analysis was used, which seeks to know the most relevant variables of business
management. The study that was develop was of descriptive type of cross section, allowing to have a general vision and to
characterize the most relevant variables of the problem.
